The 12-step program is there to make sure that you heal yourself in a more of a faith-based manner. There are many methods that one uses for the purpose of curing one’s drug addiction but all these methods such as the inpatient treatment program, the outpatient treatment program, the therapies of different kinds such as individual therapy, family therapy, CBT therapy, and many others can sometimes not work fully and do not give the same number of results as the others.
This is possible, this does not take away anything that the drug addiction treatment programs can offer a person, it just means that there are always going to be unique cases that might or might not make any issue but the lucky thing is that there are institutions and there are programs available that can help a person overcome such adversities during their drug rehab treatment program.
The 12-step program is there to make sure that the person can rise up from their issues that they are facing in their rehab treatment program and this is why this treatment program was created to help people that do not want to get the traditional or normal way of clinical treatment, rather a more natural and spiritual way of confronting their addiction. Addiction is basically a mental thing and to combat it through the medicine is going to help it temporarily but not permanently. The treatment programs do work on the mental mind, but there is a gap and that gap is to be filled by the rehab program known as the 12-step program.
Steps.
The 12-step program has simple steps, they are the following:
Step no. 1: To believe that you are completely powerless when it comes to your addiction problem and that you have let this addiction get to you for a long time, acceptance of it will set you free.
Step no. 2: You have to believe that a power that is infinitely greater than you will be able to help you recover from your addiction.
Step no. 3: We have to make a decision, a solemn decision that we will turn our lives, all of it and make it work along with the will of God.
Step no. 4: Keep checking ourselves from the inside and go for a moral checkup.
Step no. 5: Admit to the Almighty that you have done wrong, admit to others that you have done wrong, and most importantly, admit to yourself that you have done wrong.
Step no. 6: Be ready always to accept the love and care of the God to remove any defects that your character might have.
Step no. 7: Ask the God humbly that he removes any shortcomings that you may have.
Step no. 8: Make a full thorough list of the people that you may have harmed and make amends with them.
Step no. 9: Make sure to forgive others and make amends with them the moment you do any wrong to them or they do anything wrong to you.
Step no. 10: Keep checking inward for flaws and admit your wrongdoings.
Step no. 11: Go through prayer as well as meditation for the goal of creating a strong connection with the Lord.
Step no. 12: Teach others what you have learned so they can recover as well.
