What happens when you do not go for trauma counseling?

by Jackie M. Hoffman

Trauma, just the sound of it is so heavy and disheartening. It has affected almost a half of the human population currently. Just goes to show how common trauma really is. Out of the half of the human population that is currently suffering or has suffered from trauma counseling only 25 percent go and try to heal it or have healed it. Trauma is a huge issue, especially concerning women.

Women have gone through a lot of issues or have to go through a lot of problems while going up. One of the most common one is sexual abuse, the trauma that comes from sexual abuse either makes the girls grow up to become hypersexualized or they grow up to become closed and reserved, either case is not good, and furthermore, these women are in need of sex counselors then, because first they have to deal with their sex issues, then they have to work around their trauma, it is double the trouble and hassle for them.

Women not only are abused sexually, but physically and mentally as well. Men on the other hand also get abused in many ways, seeing many veteran army officers go through traumatic events of their fellow soldiers dying and civilians dying is another trauma that men mostly have to face. This PTSD runs far and wide upon its integration into the human psyche. It can make it feel worse over time and the roots can deepen more and more each day if the trauma is not catered to through trauma counseling offered by Pneuma Therapeutic Services.

There are many adverse effects of never getting trauma counseling, one can suffer a great deal by never going into therapy for healing traumas. The pain that people experience that love you, that thing they have to go through is something else as well, seeing you suffer from trauma due to your past, hurts your family members as well—it makes them feel guilty and makes them question as to why they were not there for you when you needed them.

Before it is too late, you should know what happens when trauma therapy and counseling is not taken, here are the consequences:

You can develop problems with being intimate.

Trauma can really affect you; you cannot live in the present when you are in a relationship with someone. Unresolved traumas can give second-hand traumas to your partners if they really love and care about you. This is a recurring theme in couples, the person going through traumatic events makes the other their temporary therapist, but it seldom works, this then affects the partner and they end up getting hurt more. Therefore, trauma counseling by Pneuma Counseling is what can solve this.

Increased chances of getting new mental health illnesses.

Trauma can breed more mental issues for a person. They can develop stress, anxiety, and depression disorders which can further take them down in a deep rabbit hole that is quite hard to get out of. PTSD among soldiers is something that has taken many lives because PTSD goes so bad that the only way that seems favorable is by suicide, unfortunately. If this is not a wakeup call for you, then nothing else will be.

More prone to heart attacks, strokes, and high blood pressure.

Trauma can make you more mentally agitated and it can increase your chances of heart attacks. Trauma is basically reliving the same moment but with more awareness and without your consent, it hurts double than the time it happened and this can induce strokes, high BP, heart attacks, as mentioned earlier.

Therefore, if you do not want to go for such things then, get in touch with Pneuma Counseling and start healing your trauma before it can give you one of the above consequences.
